Instructions for the Installation of Software and Plug-ins for Structure and Reaction Searching on e-EROS

WORKING IN A PC ENVIRONMENT

Please note that the best performance option for a plug-in search with e-EROS is the ISIS/Draw plug-in. See the requirements for plug in options below for information concerning system and browser requirements for running ISIS/Draw, ChemDraw, and the IC EDIT structure and reaction search options.

ISIS/Draw Plug-In

System Requirements

• Win NT 4.0 or higher, Win 95, Win 98, Win 2000 or Win XP
• Netscape Communicator 6.X, 7.X; MS Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1, 6.0
• ISIS/Draw 2.3 (or higher) [Download]
• Requires a minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels.

Installation

1. Make sure that you fulfill all the requirements above. Install Isis/Draw.
2. Close all programs and restart your PC
3. Download and install the ISIS/Draw browser plug-in (Netscape) or OCX (Internet Explorer
4. Close your Web browser
5. Restart your browser
6. Login to Wiley Online Library
7. Click on "Reference Works" button in navigation bar
8. Doubleclick on e-EROS

You are now ready to perform structure, substructure and reaction searches using the ISIS/Draw search option. For more information on performing a search, see the "Structure and Reaction Searching" section in the Help file.

ChemDraw Plug-In

System Requirements

• Win NT 4.0 or higher, Win 95, Win 98, Win 2000 or Win XP
• Netscape Communicator 4.7X, 6.1, 6.2, MS Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1, 6.0
• Special browser note: e-EROS search with ChemDraw Plug-in does not work with Netscape Communicator 7.X
• When installing ChemDraw 6 or 7 from ChemOffice, please note that they will only function as an e-EROS plug-in if they have been installed from an unrestricted version of ChemOffice
  
  Note: ChemDraw version 8 is not currently functioning as an e-EROS plug-in.
• Requires a minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600.

Installation

1. First install your Web-Browser [see system requirements] and then ChemOffice
2. Make sure that you fulfill all the requirements above and that ChemOffice is installed correctly.

You are now ready to perform structure, substructure and reaction searches using the ChemDraw search option. For more information on performing a search, see the "Structure and Reaction Searching" section in the Help file.

Java Applet IC EDIT

System Requirements

• Win NT 4.0 or higher, Win 95, Win 98, Win 2000 or Win XP
• Netscape Communicator 7 and higher or MS Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1, 6.0
• Java must be enabled
• Requires a minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600.

Installation

1. Make sure that you fulfill all the requirements above
2. Download the Java Applet

This plug-in will open automatically when you want to do a structure, sub-structure or reaction search. For more information on performing a search, see the "Structure and Reaction Searching" section in the Help file.

WORKING IN A MACINTOSH ENVIRONMENT

Structure and Substructure searches using IC EDIT or ChemDraw 9.0 are possible with the following software combination: Mac OS X, Safari 1.3
