HEED, the Health Economic Evaluations Database was initially developed as a joint initiative between the Office of Health Economics (OHE) and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA).

It contains information on studies of cost-effectiveness and other forms of economic evaluation of medicines and other treatments and medical interventions. HEED also includes, in bibliographic detail, entries from the Wellcome and Battelle databases of economic evaluation literature.

Worldwide coverage – HEED is a truly international database comprising economic evaluations from across the world. It also includes 1800 English abstracts of non-English evaluations in the main European languages, Russian, Korean, Chinese and Japanese.

Comprehensive – HEED contains around 50,000 rigorously selected records and bibliographies from databases such as Medline and EMBASE and data from over 5000 journals, including Health Economics, reviewed in light of both costs and health effects on an intervention.

Up-to-date – HEED is updated monthly. Every month on average 250 new references are added to the database.

Easy to Use – With over 70 fields to choose from, HEED can be searched by tailoring specific criteria to pick up only the relevant data, which is presented in easy-to-read formats.

Reliable – HEED is designed by health economists for health economists. The HEED selection process has developed into an exacting procedure that produces comprehensive coverage of economic evaluations. HEED helps produce the right quality and quantity of information, in the right format with minimum effort, removing the requirement to scan long lists from on-line database printouts.
