About this Book

Pioneer 11 was launched by NASA in 1973 to study the asteroid belt, the environment around Jupiter and Saturn, solar wind, cosmic rays, and eventually the far reaches of the solar system and heliosphere. In 1979, it became the first probe to encounter Saturn. This collection presents 32 papers on Pioneer Saturn originally published in special issues of the Journal of Geophysical Research (Space Physics). The papers describe Saturn's environment, magnetosphere, temperature, and other features.
