Patients with high SPF had a significantly worse recurrence rate and event free survival. These findings may be considered for future investigation regarding adjuvant chemotherapy for colorectal carcinoma patients.

Benzo[a]pyrene diol epoxide (BPDE) sensitivity may be a biologic marker for the identification of individuals who are susceptible to the carcinogenic effects of tobacco smoke. BPDE and bleomycin sensitivity might represent different repair or sensitivity pathways; however, when these assays are used in parallel, they might refine our ability to identify high risk individuals.
