Abstract
The narrow rim of an α-cyclodextrin has been AD-capped with a photoactive ruthenium(II) tris(2,2′-bipyridyl) fragment giving a diastereomeric mixture of complexes that bind 1,4-benzoquinone in water. Steady-state and time-resolved emission studies have been used to probe electron-transfer processes occurring inside and outside the cavity.
