Abstract
This article discusses the metapsychology and technique of the early working through phase of Davanloo's Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. This is done by presenting a transcript of such a session with a highly resistant patient with complex character pathology with detailed description of nonverbal aspects of the patients behavior and analyzing the process in detail. Dr. Davanloo's continuing refinement of technique and metapsychology are included. © 1996 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
