Abstract

Most of the gene mapping studies have missing or incomplete information, for example, uncertain identical-by-descent sharing in linkage projects or unknown phase in haplotype-based association studies. Measures of the information content can help in designing experiments, selecting follow-up strategies, and in understanding the loss of power due to incomplete information.
