Abstract

The complete genome sequence of the common chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) is a unique tool for elucidating the mutational processes and selective pressures that have shaped the human genome in our recent evolutionary history. This article highlights initial insights from comparative analyses of the chimpanzee and human genomes.
