Abstract

This article provides a simple introductory framework for understanding the concepts and underlying reasoning for expressed sequence tag (EST) clustering and subsequent transcript reconstruction. It represents an overview of only the very well established methods and acts as a guide to the researcher to relevant sources for further understanding.

Keywords:

  • expressed sequence tags;
  • EST clustering;
  • transcript reconstruction;
  • EST assembly;
  • transcript diversity
