Abstract

Serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE) has emerged in the past decade as a powerful tool for gene expression profiling. This article outlines the details of SAGE analysis, discusses the advantages and disadvantages of SAGE relative to microarray-based approaches to expression profiling, and outlines important considerations to keep in mind when deciding how to design an experiment using SAGE.
