CASP (Critical Assessment of protein Structure Prediction) is a community-wide experiment in large-scale structure prediction designed to evaluate state of the art, identify most promising techniques, and recognize problem areas where new efforts can be applied most effectively. The basic principle is that of blind prediction, where models are collected prior to the public release of structures. With participation of over 200 research groups worldwide, CASP represents a collaborative approach to solving problems in structure modeling and prediction, designed to encourage the development of new techniques and stimulate exchange of ideas.
