Abstract

The use of the Perl programming language is widespread in modern Bioscience and Bioinformatics. This tutorial uses a series of examples to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the core language. Additional functionality using precoded Bioperl “modules” as developed for the Ensembl genome browser is described and demonstrated.
