Summary
This chapter explains the elements that make mobile business viable. We start by explaining how the established GSM network has added a packet data capability, GPRS, that allows mobile devices to communicate easily with the Internet. Following this, the presentation standard that ensures effective transfer of information, WAP, is illustrated.
Having established the technical basis for mobile business, the rest of the chapter looks at the ways in which the market is likely to develop and the strategies that the key players are likely to follow.
