Summary

Chapter Eleven is a new and unique presentation of practical applications of pyrometers and methods of preventing or eliminating errors. It considers: influence of target emissivity, methods of approaching black-body conditions, influence of surrounding walls, influence of atmosphere and sighting window absorption, influence of temperature of pyrometer sensing head, influence of partially covered or moving target. Properties and applications of pyrometers are collected in two important tables.
