Summary

Chapter Six describes rapidly developing fibre optic thermometers, their properties and classification. More popular are extrinsic sensing thermometers divided into following types: thermometers with GaAs semiconductor sensor, thermochromic thermometers, fluorescent thermometers, thermometers with Fabry-Perot sensor and optical coupling thermometers. The second group, that of intrinsic sensing thermometers, includes: Raman scattering thermometers and refractive index thermometers. Summarising of the chapter main merits and applications are put together.
