Summary

Chapter Eight forms an introduction to pyrometers, also called infrared thermometers or radiation thermometers. It contains classification of pyrometers, divided into manually operated and automatic ones. Radiation definitions and laws, idea of emissivity (very important in pyrometry), definitions of black and grey bodies, and principles of radiant heat exchange are presented.
