Summary

Studies in cultured erythroid cells and transgenic mice have implicated NF-E2 in regulating globin gene expression, and targeted gene disruption has established the requirement for NF-E2 in terminal aspects of megakaryocyte differentiation and thrombocytopoiesis. The authors provide a synopsis of in vitro and in vivo studies pertaining to the composition and functions of NF-E2 in hematopoiesis.
