Chapter 4 treats the synthesis of planar arrays. Included are discussions of flat plane shot arrays, the Hansen one-parameter pattern, the Taylor circular n̄ pattern, the circular Bayliss difference pattern, and difference pattern optimization. Also, relative to noncircular apertures, there are discussions of two-dimensional optimization and ring sidelobe synthesis.
