Summary

This chapter presents the image parameter method and the insertion loss method to synthesize different kinds of passive filters. The former provides a design that can pass or stop a certain frequency band but its frequency response cannot be shaped. The insertion-loss method is more powerful in the sense that it provides a specified response of the filter. The chapter concludes with a design overview of microwave filters.
