Chapter 9 presents an input-output-buffered switch, called a tandem-crosspoint (TDXP) switch, that fully utilizes current CMOS technologies. It starts with a brief review of basic input and output buffered switch architectures, and then describes the TDXP switch architecture and its performance. The switch supports unicast and multicast traffic.
