Summary
In this chapter, the kinetics of enzyme-catalyzed reactions in the pre-steady, or transient region are discussed. The principles behind rapid reaction techniques, including continuous and quick-quench flow techniques, are presented. A general kinetic model for pre-steady state reaction mechanisms is developed. Relaxation techniques used in the determination of rate constants are also discussed.
