Summary
In this chapter, the kinetics of multisite and cooperative enzymes is discussed. The sequential interaction model is derived from first principles, consolidating existing models on the topic. Microscopic versus macroscopic dissociation constants are discussed. Reduction of the sequential interaction model to the Hill model is demonstrated. The concerted transition model is also developed from first principles and its assumptions discussed. The analysis of the activity of a two-substrate enzyme using both models is shown.
