Summary

In this chapter the main theoretical and experimental results on the ordering mechanism as well as the current understanding of transformations involving ordered microphases is given. First, the detection and analysis of the ordering kinetics is provided through scattering and rheology experiments. Then the equilibrium order-to-disorder transition temperature is defined in a way analogous to the equilibrium melting temperature in crystallizable homopolymers. The effects of fluctuations are discussed as well as the effect of block copolymer architecture. The transformation between different ordered states involves interesting pathways and some theoretical and experimental cases are studied in detail.
