This chapter considers the special topic of partition coefficients where the lipid phase is made of liposomes formed from vesicles made of bilayers of phospholipids. Enthalpy-driven vs. entropy-driven partioning is considered. Experimental methods are reviewed. The perils of using single-pH measurements is considered. Partitioning into charged liposomes is considered. A list of reliable log P values is compiled.
