Summary

Choosing a theoretical distribution to approximate survival data is as much an art as a scientific task. In this chapter we introduce and discuss the exponential, Weibull, lognormal, gamma, and log-logistic survival distributions. Practical applications of these distributions taken from the literature are included. The chapter concludes with a problem solving section.
