Summary
Genomic sequence data can be obtained from whole genome sequencing projects or from fragments enriched by methyl filtration reassociation methods. Whole genomes have been sequenced using the minimal tiling path (Arabidopsis) and shotgun (Arabidopsis and rice) strategies. The sequence data have to be assembled into contigs and these placed on the genetic and physical maps for subsequent use in comparative genomics.
