Summary

Society's continuously expanding use of chemicals has resulted in their increasing presence in our surroundings, the environment. In order to manage such environmental changes, we need to learn to predict the dynamic behaviors of those introduced compounds. This can be done using the chemical structures to anticipate their participation in both transport and transformation processes. An overview of the sequence of presentations in this book is given indicating how chemical structures lead to chemical properties, and these in turn enable us to estimate their environmental behaviors.
