Summary
This chapter presents an overview of the RF technology. The frequency-band designations are tabulated and various modes of propagation of waves in space are summarized. Active and passive devices used in the microwave frequency band are listed and selected applications of the solid-state devices are tabulated. Selected applications of microwave technology are summarized. Various kinds of transmission lines used at microwave frequencies are described. This chapter concludes with a section on the transmitter and receiver architectures.
