Summary

Chapter 5 provides middleware layer. We describe media coding and conversion and clarify multimedia protocol architecture. After that, we deal with a model for distributed system multimedia services together with quality of service and end-to-end performance in multimedia systems. We continue with accessibility to multimedia systems and services. The problem of security of multimedia systems and services is also demonstrated. This chapter concludes with media-streaming middleware.
