Summary

Three basic radar signals are studied in this chapter: A constant-frequency pulse, a linear FM pulse (LFM) and a coherent train of identical, constant-frequency pulses. The ambiguity function (AF) is the main tool in this study. For these three signals closed-form expressions of the AF are developed.

The role of an amplitude weight window is discussed with regard to reducing range sidelobes in the AF of the LFM pulse. Also studied is the mismatch loss caused by implementing the weight window only in the receiver.
