Summary

Chapter 7 presents applications of flowgraph models for analyzing data from semi-Markov processes. Background on Markov and semi-Markov processes is given as well as phase type distributions. Examples include birth and death processes, HIV / AIDS progression, diabetic retinopathy, construction engineering, Coxian model for bone marrow transplant, multiple exits flowgraph, and birth interval data. Computation of Bayes predictive distributions for these problems is illustrated.
