Summary

A major task of color technology is color reproduction and this chapter presents various kinds of degree of reproduction desired in different circumstances. Color television and color monitor technologies as well as color photography, and the resulting limitations in reproduction are discussed, as is graphic printing and coloration of textiles, paper, plastics and other materials. A section on color management introduces the problem of managing color across different digital devises such as cameras, scanners, and printers. The technologies of colorant formulation and color control are presented.
