Summary

Chapter 15 covers the approach to examining mixtures, and contains some valuable advice. It is demonstrated that the separation of the components of a mixture is the most powerful approach to unraveling the identification of the substances involved. Here the techniques of choice are carefully reviewed. A number of procedures that eliminate the need to carryout the actual separation of the components have been developed and are examined with illustrative examples.
