Summary

Chapter 5 examines the group frequencies of triple bonds and cumulated double bonds. Both the alkyne hydrocarbons and the nitrile group, [BOND]C[TRIPLE BOND]N, are examined in detail. In the case of the alkynes the amount and type of substitution can often be identified from vibrational data.
