Summary
A number of varied silicon-polymer based systems are described. These include silicon elastomers, polyviologen-containing copolymers containing siloxane units, polyviologen polymers based on 4,4′-bipyridinium salts, polyhedral oligomeric silsequioxanes (POSS); poly(ether urethane) blends, blocks, and copolymers; and siloxane-based polyurethane copolymers. The synthesis and characterization of these compounds is given along with a description of potential uses including the construction of ion-selective electrods for use in blood.
