Summary

In this chapter, we introduce the fundamental principles of digital image processing systems. We have presented the human visual system in relation to modern day image processing systems. We have also included a number of applications of digital image processing which have been covered in greater detail in the subsequent chapters. We have described essential components of a typical image processing system. We also presented a window of this book in this chapter including a discussion of how this book is different from others available in the marketplace.
