Summary
Mass balances in processes with recycle streams are treated as a simple example of process simulation. Solutions are given for the ammonia process solved with Excel when all parameters are specified, when the chemical reactor is an equilibrium reactor, and when the separation of products from reactants is done using a vapor-liquid separator. The concept of sequential solution of the equations is introduced and contrasted with a simultaneous solution of the equations.
