Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

Primary objective:

To determine the dose related decrease in systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure due to thiazide diuretics versus placebo control in the treatment of patients with primary hypertension.

Secondary objectives:

To determine the dose related adverse events leading to patient withdrawal and adverse biochemical effects including serum potassium, uric acid, creatinine, glucose and lipids profile.
