This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

We will collect and analyze studies which assess the effects of:
- provider training
- provider experience

on persons living with HIV/AIDS according to the following outcomes:
- immunological and virological (i.e. viral load, CD4 count)
- medical (i.e. progression to AIDS)
- psychosocial (i.e. quality of life measures)
- economic (i.e. health care costs)
