  2. Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

The objective is to examine the efficacy and safety of extended-duration anticoagulant prophylaxis in patients undergoing elective hip or knee replacement surgery, or hip fracture repair, using all the available data from clinical trials involving the comparison of low molecular weight heparin, warfarin, unfractionated heparin, or other anticoagulants with placebo.
