This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To determine the effectiveness of different methods of managing acute diffuse otitis externa. Methods of management to be considered include topical antibiotics, topical astringents, topical alcohol, topical antiseptics, topical steroids, combination topical treatments, systemic antibiotics and aural toilet.
