  2. Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

We aim to find existing evidence regarding any positive or negative effects of user involvement in mental health service delivery as trainers of mental health professionals. Evidence is sought of the outcomes of involvement for those trained by user-trainers, such as skills developed. Data regarding professional trainers' attitudes, when those working with user-trainers are compared with those not, will be sought. This is a secondary outcome, as the objective of involving users as trainers is not to change other trainers' attitudes, but it is a potential effect and there is scope for a valid comparison in studies included in the review.
