Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To present the best evidence for effectiveness of exercise interventions designed to improve balance in older people living in their own homes or in aged care facilities.

The following null hypotheses are formulated:
(1) exercise interventions designed to improve balance are not effective;
(2) a single defined exercise intervention focusing on one or more aspects of balance control is equally as effective as a multiple exercise intervention involving different techniques.
