This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

The objectives are:

1. To determine the effectiveness of universal antibiotic prophylaxis in preventing post-abortal pelvic infection.
2. To determine the most effective antibiotic regimen for preventing post-abortal pelvic infection.
3. To determine the most effective strategy for preventing post-abortal pelvic infection by comparing universal antibiotic prophylaxis with screen and treat policy, or with a combination of screen-and-treat plus prophylaxis.
