Fluid restriction for treatment of preterm babies with chronic lung disease

  • Protocol
  • Intervention

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To determine whether restriction of fluid intake in the treatment of preterm babies with bronchopulmonary dysplasia improves outcomes - specifically, reducing death or requirement for oxygen at 36 weeks post-menstrual age. Also to determine the effects of fluid restriction on secondary outcomes including duration of oxygen supplementation, duration of assisted ventilation, duration of hospitalization, growth, pulmonary mechanics and possible side effects of therapy including apnea, feeding intolerance and need for diuretics.
