  2. Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

We aim to assess the effects of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) for the primary and secondary prevention of seizures after stroke.
(1) For the question of primary prevention, we aim to examine whether AEDs reduce the likelihood of seizures in patients who have had a stroke but have not had a seizure.
(2) For the question of secondary prevention, we aim to examine whether AEDs reduce the likelihood of further seizures in patients who have had a stroke and at least one post-stroke seizure.
