Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

The primary objective of this review is to determine the effectiveness of non-pharmacological and non-invasive interventions to relieve breathlessness in patients suffering from the five most common conditions related to breathlessness (primary and secondary cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cryptogenic fibrosing alveolitis, chronic heart failure or motor neurone disease) causing breathlessness in advanced disease.
Secondary objectives are to find out which intervention strategies are available, which are the most effective and which ones work most effectively for which groups of patients.
