This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:
Through systematic review and meta-analysis (if appropriate), the primary aim of this study is to determine whether peritonectomy procedures with or without HIPEC confer a survival advantage to patients with PMP over repeated laparotomy and debulking ('standard' approach).
1. Determine the patterns and extent of morbidity associated with the Sugarbaker procedure compared with standard management.
2. Determine the costs associated with the Sugarbaker procedure compared with standard management.
A tertiary aim is to identify, within the review, the limitations of study designs used to attempt to propose questions that may be addressed within randomised controlled trials on matters related to the management of PMP. This will be important for "implications for reserach" section.
