Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

  1. To determine the efficacy of antibiotics compared to placebo, in reducing duration or severity of general and specific rhinosinusitis symptoms in patients with clinically suspected acute rhinosinusitis.

  2. To determine if antibiotics have any influence on outcomes for patients with acute clinically diagnosed rhinosinusitis.

  3. To determine whether there are significant adverse outcomes associated with placebo therapy for patients with clinically diagnosed rhinosinusitis.

  4. To determine whether there are significant adverse effects with antibiotic therapy for patients with clinically diagnosed rhinosinusitis.
