Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows:

To compare the effectiveness of arthroscopy for the management of signs in patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) with no treatment or alternative treatment interventions.

Null hypotheses

There is no evidence that arthroscopy for TMD is more effective than no treatment.
There is no evidence that arthroscopy for TMD is more effective than clinical treatment (splint therapy, physiotherapy or pharmacological).
There is no evidence that arthroscopy for TMD is more effective than other surgeries (arthrocentesis or open).
